Team Breezy

Ok, so I know Chris Brown is not the best person, but that has nothing to do with his talent. He is a singer, dancer, and rapper. He has been doing his thing since 2005; that was when he released “Run It!” which was an immediate hit. There are so many songs by him that have the potential to become R&B classics, like “Take You Down,” “Forever,” and “Deuces.” He gained a lot of negative attention after beating his girlfriend, Rihanna, back in 2009. Yes, that was a terrible thing to do, but I still like his music. It’s actually surprising how the incident did not hurt his career too much. His newest album is Fortune, and I think it is really great, and I listen to it all the time now. F.A.M.E. and Chris Brown are other albums I like. His music sounds very similar to Usher. Chris Brown is my favorite artist of the moment; I just hope he doesn’t make another huge mistake.

I love Drake Aubrey Graham! You probably know him just as Drake, and he is extremely popular. He is a Canadian rapper, and he really got me into rap music. I remember the first song I heard by him was “Forever” on the radio. Some of my favorite rap songs are by him, like “Fancy” and “Best I Ever Had.” A lot of people complain about how he is not “real” rap, but I still like his music. He is part of the rap group YMCMB (Young Money Cash Money Billionaire), which was started by Lil’ Wayne. He was actually on Degrassi when he was younger, before his rap career started. Take Care, his newest album, is probably his best in my opinion. His raps aren’t always the fastest; unlike some other rappers, his raps can be slow, but he will still sound great. Off of the Take Care album, I really like “The Motto” and “HYFR,” but you have probably already heard those on the radio thousands of times.

On YouTube

Joseph-VincentSo this weeks post is for my friend Tracie because her birthday was over the weekend. I’m really into YouTube, and I got her to start liking this singer on YouTube names Joseph Vincent (hoorahjencar on YouTube). I think he is just great! He is so talented, and as a fan, I am proud of where he is going. He is signed with Catch Adventures. He has been writing his own music since he was still in high school, and now he has his own album out! His voice is smooth and calming. His album reminds me of Bruno Mars. I like album, Blue Skies, but I listen to his covers on YouTube more. My favorite song by him is “S.A.D. (Single Awareness Day).”

I know this post is about Joseph Vincent, but there are many YouTube musicians I enjoy listening to. Others to check out include: Tori Kelly, AJ Rafael, JR Aquino, Andrew Garcia, Jeremy Passion, Traphik, Jayesslee, and more. I love that they have gained popularity from just being part of the YouTube community because they are independent. They have more freedom in their career because they started it on their own. Also, I think their fans are more loyal to them. Being able to watch your idol’s career grow actually makes you proud, and you get to say you heard of them years ago. They are also able to support each other. Many YouTube artists are friends so they can collaborate and gain even more popularity from other fan bases easily. I love YouTube!

JT

Justin Timberlake came out with a new album this week! It’s called The 20/20 Experience. jt-306v-1358169916It has 10 songs and my favorite is “Pusher Love Girl.” All the songs have a similar sound, and each is actually pretty long. (The shortest song is almost 5 minutes long.) I have been waiting for his album ever since Timberlake performed “Suit and Tie” and “Pusher Love Girl” at the Grammy’s this year.I was surprised when I first heard “Suit and Tie,” but I’ve grown to love that song. I was ecstatic when he confirmed that The 20/20 Experience is only half an album and the other half will be released at a later date. The last album he came out with was seven years ago, yet he is still extremely popular. Justin Timberlake is just great. He’s a triple threat! It may have been easy for him to start a solo career after being a member of the 90’s boy band N*SYNC. Fans who have followed him since the beginning of his career must be  incredibly proud of him.

O Hey Bey

Beyonce-Super-Bowl-Promo-PictureSuper Bowl XLVII was last week, and Beyoncé was the halftime performance (but you knew that). She was stunning! The week before everyone was buzzing about how she lip-synced the national anthem at Obama’s inauguration, but after her Superbowl performance, who still doubts her? Her voice is versatile and genuine. She is a superstar of our generation, and her hits definitely live on. My cousin said “Single Ladies” might be one of the defining songs of our time, and although we’ll have to wait and see, I agree with him. Her Destiny’s Child days were jumpin’, and she is irreplaceable. Everyone says her name because she is a survivor of the 90’s. She just had a baby, but look at her! She’s still bootylicious. Jay-Z is lucky because being married to Beyoncé means you got no problems. Ok, I’m done with that now, but really…what am I supposed to say about BEY? We live in a democracy, but she’s still a queen. The visual effects during her show were amazing, and all the single ladies went crazy when Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams got up on stage too. She runs the world. Sorry… I just can’t resist. Even spellcheck recognizes her name (it corrected the accent on the e)!

Just Another Name Of Silly Kids In Another Nation (Skip)

The Janoskians are a group of Australian boys who make YouTube videos. Now if you have heard of them you would know they are not really a music group, but they have released a single so I have an excuse to talk about them in this blog. Daniel Sahyounie, Luke Brooks, Beau Brooks, Jai Brooks, and James Yammouni do extremely disgusting things and many of their videos could be considered crude. I’m currently obsessed.

I don’t like them for their music, and you probably wouldn’t either. Their first single is called “Set This World On Fire.” It is a pop song and you can tell they used autotune. They’re not singers, but they have their own reasons for wanting to sign with Sony. It’s still a fun song, but I didn’t like it the first time I heard it. However, it is growing on me. It’s very stereotypical pop about going out and just having fun. They are bound to have a good following because of the fans they already made online. I think they could have done something a little more interesting to start off their music career, but what they actually do on YouTube is extremely “interesting,” and they should just keep going with that. They do a lot of challenges which involve food. They also like to pull pranks on the unsuspecting public. I think they are going to be get even bigger, not for their singing career, but because of the other stuff they do. They already have their own show on MTV in Australia so learn their name. It is hard for me to define them because I’m not even really sure what they do. The only way to understand is by watching their videos, but let me warn you first! They do use explicit language and some of their videos are pretty gross. They’re just boys living wild while they are young, and I really hope they don’t die soon. I only heard about them a little while ago, but I enjoy watching them.

P.S. They do have an official VEVO version of this music video, but I like this one. It’s weirder, and you get a better sense of who they are.

I Wear Yo Granddad’s Clothes…

I LOOK INCREDIBLE. Who wants to go pop some tags with me? Because this week I want to talk about the current number one song on Billboard’s Hot 100 list: “Thrift Shop” by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis ft. Wanz.

If you haven’t heard it by now,  don’t bother looking it up. I love this song so much, but once you hear it, it’s stuck in your head for at least a week. It’s extremely catchy and upbeat. I really love it because of what he is rapping about. I like rap, but I’m tired of all the songs about love, partying, and the “thug life.” A song about bargain shopping, now that’s original. It’s just an addictive song that you could have fun listening to. After hearing this song, I started listening to some of the other music Macklemore & Ryan Lewis have put out. Their songs are refreshing, and another song I really like by them is “Same Love ft. Mary Lambert.” P.S. The “Thrift Shop” music video will definitely make you smile. I want to go to Goodwill.. like right now.

Let’s Begin in One Direction

The first music artist(s) I want to talk about is a boy band called One Direction… Have you heard of them? You must have because it’s hard to avoid them, especially on the internet. A picture of them just popped up so they get the honor of being my first review. Since you know who they are, you probably know how they got started too. Louis Tomlinson, Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, and Liam Payne auditioned for The X Factor separately; Simon Cowell decided to make them a group. They chose to call themselves One Direction, made video diaries, lost The X Factor, and became worldwide sensations. Caught up? These four Brits and one Irishman are well-loved by their “dedicated” fans. I am a fan, but I am definitely not as insane as the other “Directioners” out there. They come out with a lot of catchy pop songs that are good for the radio (like “What Makes You Beautiful” and “One Thing”), but I actually like their slower love songs a little more (like “Little Things”). Their Take Me Home album is sounds better than their debut album, Take Me Home, in my opinion. They have grown and their singing voices have really improved. Girls aren’t just in love with their voices or their appearances. People fall in love with their personalities. Each member is unique and loved for different reasons. They have a bunch of videos of them up on YouTube. From the videos they make themselves, you can tell they are five boys who got lucky, but they are just having fun and being themselves. From their interviews, we learn more about who they are and how much they appreciate their fans. These five boys may just be a group of singers, but they are inspirations to their fans.
